A former premier of Solomon Islands Guadalcanal province, Stephen Panga, has regained the job which he had lost in the last election.
The provincial assembly narrowly elected him in a contest with a former government minister, Walton Naezon.
The election was called after the sitting premier, Anthony Veke, last week resigned amid allegations he had misused public funds.
Mr Panga has vowed to provide continuity and build on the foundation put in place over the past two years.
