PNG anti-corruption group office ransacked

The offices of the Papua New Guinea Government’s anti-corruption group, Task Force Sweep, have been ransacked.

NBC reports the incident comes as the body investigates millions of kina missing from the National Planning Department.

The Task Force Sweep chairman, Sam Koim, says they have been expecting such an incident and had made copies of files which he says are stored away in various safe locations.

The Task Force has registered over 170 complaints in the past year with 52 of them under investigation.

Its work will eventually be taken over by the Government’s proposed Independent Commission Against Corruption.
