American Samoa’s governor elect Lolo Matalasi Moliga told supporters last night that their trust and confidence in he and running mate Lemanu Peleti Mauga will not be in vain.
Lolo and Lemanu won by 737 votes polling 6,645 or 52% over the team of Lieutenant Governor Faoa Aitofele Sunia and Taufete’e John Faumuina with 5,908 votes or 47.1%.
Lolo said they waged a campaign for a change in government and they pledged to deliver on that promise.
He said their victory in yesterday’s run-off election was the easy part, the hard part now is putting their campaign platform in action and this will require the involvement of everyone.
Lolo gave special acknowledgment to the other three teams which backed them after the general election, Afoa and Le’i, Salu and Savusa and Jones and Tuika.
The new governor and lieutenant governor will take office on the 3rd of January for a 4-year term.
