In American Samoa police report polling in the run off governor’s election has been peaceful so far.
The poll involves the top two gubernatorial teams, Lolo Matalasi Moliga who is running with Lemanu Peleti Sialega Mauga, and the current Lieutenant Governor Faoa Aitofele Sunia with Taufete’e John Faumuina.
Voter turnout has been light to medium in most of the polling stations and election officials and poll watchers alike are expecting higher numbers once people finish work.
At the polling station in Fagatogo, election supervisor Eddie Fruean said turnout has been steady.
“We are expecting more people than the last general election because it was like 461 voted in the last election but the total number of people already registered in the Fagatogo is like 570 so hopefully they’ll show up on this run-off.”
