Taiwan has given Solomon Islands 10,000 solar lamps.

The Solomon Islands government says each of the country’s 50 constituencies will receive 200 of the lamps which are to be distributed by constituency development officers.

The Rural Development Minister, Alex Lionel, says lamps are very important in rural communities where they can be a substitute for expensive kerosene lanterns.
