A Fijian serving in the British army has been killed in Afghanistan.
Britain’s Ministry of Defence says Lance Corporal Duane Groom was killed in action when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province.
Groom, who was born in Fiji, was serving under the Queen’s Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.
He had joined the British Army in 2007.
His Commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel James Bowder MBE said Groom was an outstanding soldier in every respect.
