Fiji police have cancelled a planned march against homophobia in Suva.
The organisers say they got a permit last month for today’s march which was to commemorate International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia.
Police say they cancelled the permit for safety reasons.
The march organisers say according to police, they had received a directive from the Ministry of Defence to cancel the march.
The Suva City Council had given approval for the public procession.
