Police in Indonesia’s Papua region have arrested a Czech tourist for taking photos of a pro-independence demonstration.

Police have told the AFP news agency that Petr Zamecnik was detained in Manokwari, 400 kilometers east of the popular Raja Ampat diving site.

They say his travel permit listed him as a tourist who was supposed to go on a holiday to Raja Ampat .

About 100 Papuans marched to the governor’s building on Wednesday afternoon yelling ’Free Papua, we are not Indonesians’ and carrying a banner showing the outlawed Papuan Morning Star separatist symbol.
