China is to send seven doctors to Tonga as part of its latest aid package.

The medical team will stay in Tonga for a two-year period.

Beijing has also announced an aid allocation of three million US dollars for social and economic development in Tonga.

The Chinese Ambassador, Fan Guijing, says the grant also provides soft loans and interest free loans to the Tonga Government.

It comes on top of help in the reconstruction of the CBD of Nuku’alofa, an agricultural project in Vaini, and health clinics in Vava’u and Vaini.
