The authorities in French Polynesia plan to distribute more than 300 kit homes to the victims of Cyclone Oli which hit the Austral islands last week.
The solidarity minister, Teura Iriti, has assured the public on RFO television that the assistance will be distributed fairly and not in line with political clientilism.
She gave the assurance amid claims that favouritism in aid distribution had been at play in the past.
On the island of Tubuai, about half the dwellings have been destroyed.
