The U.S. Coast Guard has slapped a Samoa government vessel with a violation notice for taking passengers on a voyage to American Samoa’s Manu’a last week.

The violation comes with a 9,000 US dollars fine.

Coast Guard Lieutenant Ted Harre says the boat must put more life rafts on the vessel.

He says enforcement will depend on whether the vessel makes corrections to allow it to carry some passengers.
