Malakula island will host the fourth national arts festival of Vanuatu in 2013.
During the third arts festival last week, it was decided that the national arts festival will take place every four years.
Port Vila town council of chiefs handed over fire stick to the chiefs of Malakula.
Vanuatu’s president, Iolu Johnson Abil, urged participants at this year’s event to go back and develop and maintain their customs, cultures and traditions.
The first festival took place in 1979 and the second not until 1991.
