The Bank of Hawaii’s in the process of distributing more than 45,000 US dollars of donated funds to individuals in American Samoa who experienced hardship caused by the recent tsunami.
The bank says in a statement it donated 25,000 dollars from its Charitable Foundation and 20,000 was collected at its branches in Hawaii from donors across the state and in the US mainland.
According to the bank, more than 160 American Samoan residents are receiving grants ranging from 200 to 500 dollars to help with bereavement, housing repair and clean-up expenses.
