Fiji police have confirmed that security recruitment agent Sakiusa Raivoce was arrested on Monday but have declined to give details of his detention.
Mr Raivoce, who has been the Fiji agent of Global Risk Strategies, a company employing ex-military and police officers for jobs in Iraq, is also a major shareholder in Fijian Holdings Limited.
The Director of Police Operations Waisea Tabakau says Mr Raivoce breached the Public Emergency Regulation.
“He’s one of the names that was taken in for investigation. It is a normal investigation process, [and] we are taking the matter seriously. Any form of involvement that is linked to any suspected breach of Public Emergency Regulation will be investigated.”
Mr Tabakau says he can’t confirm whether Mr Raivoce is still being held because it’s improper to reveal details about an investigation.
