British woman to row from Hawaii to Tuvalu

A British woman attempting to become the first female to row solo across the Pacific Ocean has left Honolulu for Tuvalu.

Roz Savage, who is 41, hopes to reach Tuvalu in about 100 days.

She told the Honolulu Advertiser that her biggest challenge to completing the solo row will be crossing the equator.

The purpose of her voyage is to draw attention to environmental issues, with the latest leg focusing on climate change.

She will use her computer, satellite phone and solar panels for electricity to post blogs and tweets from the ocean.

Last September, she completed the first leg of the trip, a 99-day trip from California to Hawaii.

It was her second try after being rescued in rough seas.
