The newly-appointed United States Ambassador to Fiji says he will work with all elements of Fiji society and regional partners to quickly restore the rule of law, strengthen civil society, and rebuild democratic institutions in Fiji.

Fiji Live online says Steven McGann arrived in the country on Monday night.

He is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and is nominated by President George W. Bush.

He will serve concurrently as Ambassador to Nauru, Tonga, Kiribati and Tuvalu.

The U.S Embassy said the Ambassador is equally keen to assist in the development and growth of Tonga, Kiribati, Tuvalu and Nauru.
