Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare has appointed his chief-of-staff and economic adviser as head of the newly formed PNG climate change office.
Theo Yasause will lead the Office of Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability as part of PNG’s push for cleaner and greener environment policy.
PNG’s Post Courier says Mr Yasause has a background in sustainable development and the environment.
Earlier this month, a joint University of PNG and Australian National University report found more than half of PNG’s forests could be lost or badly damaged by 2021 because of logging and population growth.
