Two Northern Pacific countries vying for the right to host Micronesia Games

Two Northern Pacific countries Palau and Guam are vying for the right to host the 2010 Micronesia games.

The move comes after Marshall Islands National Olympic Committee pulled out.

National Olympic Committees from the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Guam, the Northern Marianas, Marshall Islands, Kiribati and Nauru are now in the process of voting to determine which of the two islands will have hosting rights.

The games brings together over 15-hundred athletes every four years to compete in a wide range of sports which include basketball, baseball, underwater spearfishing, coconut husking, tree climbing and other traditional skills.

Guam last hosted the even in 1994 and Palau hosted it in 1998.
