Police in Samoa present traditional Ifoga after death

A police officer in Samoa has been charged with careless driving causing death following an accident at Salelologa market in Savaii Island.

A 69 year old man was killed in the incident.

Police spokesman and assistant commissioner, Papalii Li’o, says the officer was driving a police car.

A traditional apology by the police through an Ifoga was presented to the family of the deceased has been accepted according to the assistant commissioner.

The accused is due to appear in court next week.
