RAMSI review talks in Solomons postponed indefinitely

Rescheduled talks to review Regional Assistance Mission’s operation in Solomon Islands have been postponed indefinitely.

The third round of so-called Enhanced Consultative Mechanism talks between the Solomons government, RAMSI and the Forum Secretariat were to be held in Honiara today.

But while officials from the Forum and RAMSI were awaiting the Solomons delegates, they were advised by telephone that the meeting would be postponed indefinitely.

It’s not clear if a meeting will be held as Forum officials are due to leave Honiara on Friday.

The talks should have been held yesterday but rescheduled for today because of a state funeral.

The RAMSI review was agreed at last year’s Forum summit in Fiji.
