Fiji’s interim foreign minister tours Melanesian countries

Fiji’s interim foreign minister, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, is on a week’s visit to Melanesian states to brief them on the current developments in Fiji.

The Ministry’s permanent secretary, Ross Ligairi, told the Fiji Times that it was normal practice to update the country’s bilateral partners and friends on developments.

Ratu Epeli headed to Papua New Guinea and is reported to have flown to Wewak, the prime minister Sir Michael Somare’s home town.

Mr Ligairi said the trip is part of the interim Cabinet’s decision to keep partners informed.

According to Mr Ligairi, Ratu Epeli is now in Honiara and is expected to travel to Vanuatu before heading home later in the week.
