Investigation into who allegedly plotted with Fiji’s military underway

The Fiji government is reported to be investigating high profile figures who are alleged to have plotted and colluded with the military during the crisis in recent days.

The Daily Post newspaper says two chief executive officers and a senior official holding a diplomatic posting are the subject of an inquiry over the allegations.

The two chief executives are alleged to have visited the army camp in Suva in the absence of the commander, Commodore Bainimarama, to meet with senior officers and offer advice and share information.

The Daily Post says certain members of the judiciary are also under watch for allegedly offering advice to the military.

It says the public service commission launched the investigation yesterday and some officers have already been interviewed in relation to the allegations.

The chief executive of the Prime Minister’s Office, Jioji Kotobalavu, has declined to comment on how many officers are under investigation.
